For example: how do sexism, misogyny and gender inequality affect young people’s mental health? How do they influence things like self-esteem, body image, getting involved in sport, or feeling hopeful or worried? How do puberty, hormones, periods and the menstrual cycle play a role in all this? Why is the gender gap in mental health worse in London compared to Tokyo, and how does this connect to culture, politics and society? We hope to start exploring these questions using quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and ultimately help improve mental health support for young people in the future.
