KCL Collaborator
Mia (she/her) uses data from Bridging Divides to explore why women are more likely to experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and why this disparity emerges in adolescence. She is currently a Research Affiliate in Health Service and Population Research at King's College London, where she completed her PhD. She is also affiliated with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she works with datasets from Africa, which keeps her attentive to how far findings travel between different settings. Her work lies at the intersection of epidemiology, cross-cultural psychiatry and social science. She is particularly interested in how experiences of distress are named, measured and recognised differently in different cultural contexts.
Outside of work, she loves Pilates, has recently qualified as a coach, and enjoys cooking as much as eating.
